My work involved figuring out and creating a 3D model of two sprue sets, that were later sculpted in foam and coated. Sprue is a plastic frame onto which are attached pieces of the toy that are upon assembly broken off this frame and glued together to create figurines. For this exhibit, there were three sprue sets, each devoted to film director – Roger Corman, John Landis, and Eli Roth, who have also curated a selection of their favorite horror films. I have worked on two sets, first one was for the movie It Conquered The World, and the second was for American Werewolf In London.

Here are some of the renders, done in mental ray and Maya, followed by photographs from the exhibit during EMP member’s preview on Saturday, October 1st. The exhibit opened for public on Sunday, the 2nd and if you’re a fan of horror flicks, swing by and take a look.

The experience of working on this project was great and quite rewarding, especially after seeing for the first time actual foam sculpture created after following my concept designs, and I hope to have opportunity to be part of similar projects in the future.
